Good Report
I got a good report from the doctor today!! :-) My CT scan looked just fine. He will continue to monitor me closely, but he is not concerned about anything at this point. My next CT scan will be in two months.

The CT scan went all right. The barium did not taste as bad as I thought it might. It reminded me of crushed up TUMS in coconut milk. It was a lot to get down, but I managed okay. My tummy didn't like it very much though. They also had to start an IV to put in contrast dye. No one had tried to use my veins for almost 3 months, so I was a little concerned. She managed to find a vein on the 2nd stick-- not bad at all.

I got my port flushed today as well. I talked to dr. about getting it out and he said I could do that anytime now. I'll call my surgeon tomorrow to schedule an appointment. While the port was a life-saver for me through chemo, I'm really ready to get rid of it. My doctor also said that it will take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months for me to regain my strength and energy. I told him that I'm hoping for the 6 weeks end of the spectrum!

By now you know that our family likes to celebrate, so today's good report was cause enough for us to do just that. We went out to eat at the Daimaru Japanese steakhouse in Salina. We got to eat miso soup and edamame and good rice and they stir-fried our main entree right in front of us. It was delicious and brought back many fond memories of our time in Japan (we went as a family for 2 weeks in the spring of '05). Now we all want to go back to Japan. ;-)

Again, I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for praying for me and my family. The Lord has carried us through a very difficult time, and continues to walk with us each day. He has never left our side and He never will. We appreciate your continued prayers as I go through this recuperation period. Having cancer has changed my life in many ways, but today I'm proud to say that I'M A SURVIVOR!!
