Music Fix
We're headed to Lawrence tomorrow morning for a MUSIC FIX!! :-) We're going to the bluegrass festival there, staying in a motel all weekend, and planning to get our fill (if that's possible) of music--both playing and listening. We're going to enter the band contest tomorrow... wish us luck.

I'm getting over my cold. I still have a runny nose, but I'm starting to feel better. Last Tuesday, we had a little house concert for some friends. One of Mom's patient's was interested in dulcimers, so we set it up so she could hear me play. We played for about an hour and had a great time. Check out the Pictures we put up!

Gotta run... time to practice our songs for tomorrow. Have a great weekend everyone!

What a way to finish...
With a cold. :-( I made it through 12 chemo treatments without getting sick... until Saturday. I called my dr. and he told me not to worry about it unless I start running a fever, so I'm living on Sudafed for now. I was so looking forward to starting to feel better this week, but I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer. I am very greatful that I made it this long without getting sick-- God is good to me. I had my last Neupagen shot EVER yesterday!! HOORAY! NO MORE SHOTS!! I'm just a little excited about that. :-) Otherwise, I'm just working on getting over this cold and getting my strength back.

HAIR
Erin has HAIR!!! She had her first BAD hair day today. I got home from work and found her hair ALL messed up. It made me ever so happy! Her hair is coming in pretty dark, not black but dark. It is about 1/4-1/2 inch long. I'll keep you up to date on the length!

Erin is still feeling under the weather today...I think I covered her up with 4 or 5 blankets, hopefully she will get all wamred up. Dad built her a fire when he got home from work. She has been working on a project for us this week. Over the years we have been bad about labeling videos....SO....she has been going through old movies watching them and labeling as to what they are....she has found treasures and some we wonder why we ever recorded them.

We had an eventful evening of chasing a dog tonight. Maggie our Newfoundland excaped. By the time we realized she was out she had been running about Concordia for about an hour. I set out on the dark, cold, snowy streets to find her. She was about 6 blocks from the house. Being onery as she is she saw me and went running again. I decided if she was going to run I might as well chase her towards the house. SO with the flishlight and my waving arms I ran and chased her home....We are all settling down now. We have a performance tomorrow evening, that will perk Erin up for sure.

Hair, it's such a happy thing!

Chemo # 12
We made it through another chemo treatment. This was number 12, the last one! We had a wonderful little party. When we arrived the chemo nurses had party hats and a very cool pin for Erin to wear. Anyone who did anything with Erin today had to wear a party hat, even the doctor! We had fun hats, cupcakes, baloons, noise makers, and streamers! Dad's parents came to enjoy the festivities today. Going into chemo was just as hard for me today, I hate watching her get sick! Be sure to check the picture page!!!

FUTURE:
Erin has a CT scan scheduled for Feb. 19th. We will have the CT scan in the morning then meet with the doctor in the early afternoon. I am already worried about this. God is good so I'll try not to worry, but we'll see. They gave sister a big bottle of white gunk to drink before the scan, it looks horrific! Hopefully at this doctor appointment we will talk about what to expect in the future ect. Until then I plan to have a wonderful month! I don't hardly know what to do with myself, the past few months we have lived on the day-to-day basis always counting the days until chemo...hm...bet I find something else to fret over.

Another happy note from the day is that Erin only has to have 5 neupy shots! She was very excited. Thank you all for the prayers and support, we will keep you updated on how Erin is doing....
It looks like I"m not going to get my wish for Red hair...we'll see about the curls!

Almost
It's almost time for my last chemo treatment. More than ever before, I'm having mixed feelings about it. I'm so incredibly excited about being done that I'm almost looking forward to Tuesday. This whole week has seemed to creep by as I wait for Tuesday to arrive. Yet, it is a chemo day, and I know I'm going to get really sick just like I have every time before. I dread next week-- the hours on the couch, the feeling of helplessness to do anything for myself, the misery of an aching, tired body. I don't want to go, but I want to be done so I know I must go.

Please pray for me on Tuesday, that everything will go smoothly one last time. I see my dr. at 11:45 and then have chemo after that. We're planning on having a party at the Cancer Center while I'm getting my IV. We're making chocolate cupcakes and Amber's planning on decorating with balloons and streamers. I hope it will lift the spirits of the other patients and give them hope that they too can overcome their cancer.

For those of you who have been praying for the little boy, Austin, I wrote about in December, he went to be with Jesus on Wednesday. Please pray for his family as they are grieving the loss of their little boy. Austin was only eight years old. You can read his story HERE. Although I never met him, his story deeply impacted me. I don't understand why little ones have to suffer so much sometimes, but it is amazing to see how strong they can be, both physically and spiritually. I think we can all learn a lot from them. If there is one thing I have learned from being sick, it is to take time to get to know those who are hurting and to find ways to encourage them. It will brighten their day and you may just find that it brightens yours too.
