Recording update and Prayer Request
It's been a while since I last wrote and we've been busy. My fatigue is getting better. I am able to do more and need fewer naps. Praise Jesus! :-) Overall, my health is very good. I am taking walks every morning, doing strengthening exercises recommended by my physical therapist Mom, eating healthy, and enjoying life!

Update on recording: Last weekend, we went to Hill City to start recording my solo dulcimer project. Our friend JF is doing the recording. We got nine out of sixteen songs laid down. Dad's part is now finished; Amber still has two more to do with me. I will be going back to the studio March 28th to try to finish the recording part. My friend Ben is going to come sing the song he wrote for me. The remaining tracks will be just dulcimer. Our "Scenic Roots" project is also coming along. We've narrowed it down to two possible titles and are hoping to get pictures taken for it this weekend. Our recording engineer has four songs mixed for us so far and we are extremely pleased with how they sound. He's making us sound pretty good. ;-)

Prayer request: We got a phone call this evening that one of our dear family friends is very ill. He came down with pneumonia a couple weeks ago and doctors are only giving him a few days to live. Please pray for him. His name is Don. Please pray for his wife Mary and granddaughter Demi (who has been raised by Don and Mary) as well. Thank you. We know that prayer is powerful! Amen!

Fighting Fatigue
The past week has been a constant battle against fatigue. Some days I win; some days it wins. Some days are really productive; some days all I accomplish is sleep. Some days it is a draw and I can get several things done before I crash. I am trying to do as much as I can when I feel good and not feel too bad when I cannot do much. I tend to feel guilty for not doing enough to help around the house on the days that fatigue wins, and then I feel like I have to make up for it on the days that I win. Then I over-do and fatigue starts beating me again. If only I could learn to do things in moderation. :-/ Take today for example, I felt pretty good so, rather than doing some small projects, I decided to clean out the pantry. That meant taking everything out, scrubbing all the shelves, and then putting everything back more neatly and organized than before. Tonight, I'm completely exhausted and I know I did too much, but tomorrow I'll get up and do the same thing. ;-)

My emotions have been on a roller coaster lately too. Getting well has been almost as big a life change as getting sick was. I find myself trying to find some sort of routine and figure out what "normal" is for my life right now. One thing I'm really working on is re-building relationships with people. While I was sick, many of my friends sent notes or called to check on me, but relationships are a two-way deal. I didn't have any energy to put into relationships with anyone outside of my family, so I really lost touch with a lot of people. It is not easy to maintain friendships, but life is pretty dull without them. I need the support and accountability that friendships bring, so I am trying to dedicate some time each day to re-connecting with people.

It is good to have a friend for the journey.

Hair Report!
It is time once again for a hair report. I need your help this time! Erin has some nice spikes going on! Now, she needs color! Reds, blues, greens, yellows, oragnes...how do I go about coloring the tips of her spikes? She is putting goop in to spike it all about. It's great! I love it!!! If you have any tips on coloring hair different colors please let us know!!! Thank you!!

ERin is doing pretty good after surgery! Still a little slow, but the scar is looking good! Being a silly sister I always have to take a look at it. Anyway she is doing well. I on the other hand am doing much much much better! I'm feeling energetic, happy, getting back to the crazy Amber. Watch out!!!

Port Report
I've been de-port-ed! :P Surgery went good this morning. They gave me a local anesthetic and "popped" the port right out. Ok, it wasn't quite that easy, but it wasn't bad. This was my first surgery to ever be awake for... it felt pretty weird to be able to feel the pressure, but no pain. The surgeon had a little trouble getting the port out-- he said I had a lot more tissue grown around it than the little old ladies he usually operates on. The incision site is sore, but I can control the pain with Tylenol and I can move my arm some without pain. I still have some Tylenol 3 w/ codein on hand in case it gets too bad. Our family is headed to Washington, KS for dinner and a concert at Mayberry's. I figure music will be the perfect thing to take my mind off the discomfort from surgery. Dad's feeling better today-- he says his stomach is still a little upset, but he's been up most of the day. Thanks for praying for us!!
