( 3 / 89 )Amber turns 19 today!
Queen for a Day (by Ceili Rain)
She's the queen for a day
She holds her head high
Her crown is her hope
Her robe is her pride
Her spirit is strong
Today nothing's wrong
She's the queen for a day
Amber's doing a little better emotionally. It still doesn't take much to trigger an anxiety attack, but she is learning to control it a little, mainly by avoiding things she knows will trigger it.
We had family birthday party for her this morning bright and early-- 5:30 bright and early! She really is special to get me up at that time!
She would like you to know that Mom & Dad got her a GPS unit for our car so that we won't get lost in our travels this summer! We'll let you know how that works out. ;)
If you would like to send Amber a Happy Birthday greeting, you can e-mail her at fiddlestiz@yahoo.com. I know it would make her day to hear from you.

( 3.1 / 74 )We could use some extra prayers. This past week has been really stressful. Over the course of the week, a lot has happened.
+Our next-door neighbor, 15-year old Mallory, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and started on chemo treatment.
+Our friends found out the 3-year old girl they adopted from China less than 2 months ago has retinalblastoma and will probably need chemo and radiation.
+One of mom's co-worker's son had surgery to remove a brain tumor (he has Craniopharyngioma). He got to come home on Wednesday, but then was re-admitted to the hospital on Friday night.
All of these things have hit pretty close to home and brought back lots of memories from the past year. Amber especially is really struggling. She actually has symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety attacks. Our hearts just break for these families. We know what it is like to go through cancer and we hate to see anyone else have to go through the same things. Pleae keep these three families in your prayers!
There have been some good things this week as well. Amber and I have our schedule for our trip to North Carolina pretty well figured out. You can see our schedule of performances HERE. Our CDs are getting really close. I finished mixing mine yesterday and will hopefully get it sent to the duplicator tomorrow. My speaking engagements also went really well. I'll write more about that soon-- suffice it to say that God is awesome and I can't believe how He is using me and my story of His faithfulness!
Thank you to all of you who continue to read my blog and lift my family up in prayer! You are truly a blessing to us! When I think of everything from the past year, one of the first things that always comes to mind is the amazing love and support we received from so many people. It's been an incredible journey!

( 2.9 / 57 )It's been a while since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd give a general update on life in the Rogers household. Things have been going really well.
Our weekend in Arkansas was wonderful. Our band took 2nd place (out of 2 bands
My highlight from last week was making May baskets and delivering them to some of my friends who are dealing with illnesses in celebration of May Day. I made little origami baskets and filled them with candy. It gave me a good excuse to get out of the house and hopefully bring a smile to some people.
Yesterday, I went to the wedding of two of my dear friends from Sterling College, David and Whitney. It was a beautiful wedding. It made my heart rejoice to witness the depth of love that was evident between them towards each other and towards God. I got to see a lot of my college friends, as well as some old friends from Teens for Christ, which David was very involved in through highschool. It was a really wonderful time of fellowship and celebration!
News on recording: We have the graphics and liner notes ready to go for our Scenic Roots CD. We're just waiting for the final mixed and mastered CD to send in. My solo project, which I've decided to call "Quiet Sunshine", still has a little ways to go. I was hoping to finish mixing last week, but my recording engineer came down with the crud. I decided mixing could wait until he was well!
Amber and I are working hard on finalizing plans for our summer tour to North Carolina. We'll be leaving May 23rd and coming home June 17th, if all goes as planned. Here's our schedule as it currently stands:
May 23-25 - attending Tater Fest in Peculiar, MO
May 26-28 - Springfield, MO (no confirmed gigs yet, but some in the works)
May 29-30 - Batesville/ Mt. View, AR. We'll be performing at the Ozark Folk Center for their evening show on the 30th.
May 31-June 1 - Memphis, TN. We'll be teaching workshops Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Saturday evening, we'll be giving a concert at a guitar academy.
June 2-4 - Nashville, TN (no confirmed gigs yet, but working on it)
June 5-11- absorbing as much music as possible in North Carolina
June 12-14- attending Bonaroo music festival near Nashville, TN
June 15-16- Fredricktown, MO (S of St. Louis), probably playing at a church Sunday evening
June 17- HOME!
We'll be making a few other, shorter trips this summer as well. I try to keep our performance schedule updated HERE. We'd love to see you somewhere along the way!
I'm also getting some opportunities to speak and share my cancer story. Coming up this week, I will be sharing in Newton on Wednesday evening and Hutchinson on Thursday morning. In Newton, I will be speaking to a youth ministry that meets at a skate park-- average age 11-13. In Hutchinson, I will be speaking to the Young at Hearts group-- average age 60-80. That should be interesting!

( 2.9 / 63 )Good news from the dr! My scan and bloodwork came back good. In the doctor's words, I "look good on paper".
Everyone there got a kick out of my hair. The ladies at the front desk thought I was wearing a brightly colored scarf at first.
Thanks for praying for us today! God is good and faithful, and we are so thankful for all He has brought us through!
~Enjoy Life~
