( 3 / 56 )We've been home from our trip for 3 full days now. Amber is off at 4-H camp herding around a group of 6-8 year olds until Monday afternoon. I've been enjoying the last few days at home without an agenda. I even got to read a book this morning. *happy sigh* Tomorrow, I speak at Salina's Cancer Survivor's Luncheon put on by the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. It will be different to share my story with others who have been there, but I'm looking forward to it. Then, Dad and I are playing music for Clay Center's cancer survivor's celebration from 5-7pm.
Amber and my trip was AMAZING! I feel so blessed to have been able to go and experience everything we did. Looking at a career in music is not generally recommended as a fiscally wise move, and in fact Mom & Dad discouraged us for years from going into music. Yet this whole trip seemed to be full of confirmation that that is indeed what we should be doing, at least for now. God provided for us in so many ways.
~The whole trip came together perfectly with gigs when and where we needed them.
~We had wonderful host homes all along the way, so we didn't have to pay for motel rooms and many of our meals were provided.
~We ran into many very encouraging and supportive people.
~We came home with so many new musical ideas and songs to work on. I got to spend some time learning jazz basics on chromatic dulcimer with one of my favorite players, Stephen Seifert. The festival at Mt. Airy, NC and the jam sessions on Frank Lee's front porch gave us lots of new music.
~After paying all of our trip expenses, we still have money in our pockets, and we still like each other!
Music is such an incredible gift and I feel so blessed everytime I play my dulcimer! Several years ago, God gave me with a dream to play dulcimer at secular venues and use that as an avenue for sharing His love. Through college as a piano major, cancer and taking my dulcimer to chemo, and now traveling with Sister and planning to attend bluegrass school, the Lord has opened doors I never dreamed of for sharing the music He has given me. It is such a joy to be able to do what I love and watch God use it to minister to others. Wow! When we were staying with Frank Lee, he often said, "I am so blessed." and that is exactly my sentiment right now.
Once again, I want to thank all of you who have been diligently praying for me and my family. I stayed very healthy on the trip and am almost back to my previous energy and endurance levels. I am so greatful to have so many praying friends!

( 2.8 / 56 )Erin and I made it HOME last night at 7:00pm. We had such a WONDERFUL TRIP! THe actual end of trip blog will be coming where we total miles, gas fill ups, number of gigs, ect. For now you'll just have to be ok with it was GREAT SUPER SUPER GREAT!
Pally did a nice job of getting us home although she got thirst on the way home and starting drinking the anti-freeze. She'll have to go to the shop today...bummer, but she did get us home safe and sound!
I head to 4-H camp tomorrow so I"m doing LAUNDRY today! YIPPEE!!! Erin has a bunch of music things this weekend along with speaking for the cancer center. We're on our feet running in every direction like usual, but what a FANTASTIC trip we had, one that we won't ever forget. We'll write more later....

( 3.1 / 68 )Well, this message is coming from MOM Rogers. The girls asked me to make an entry for them, as internet access has been spotty on this great adventure. Thankfully cell phone coverage has been excellent, so they keep me up to date on their travels.
They had a wonderful few days in North Carolina. Their stay there was filled with Music. All they can say on the phone is "It's just amazing, the whole family needs to come back." In fact, they are already making plans for next summer's family vacation to North Carolina. Thanks to Frank for helping them find their way around, and introduing them to some wonderful folks, and new music.
They are currently back in the car-"Pally" as she is called, on their way to Bonaroo, in Manchester,TN. They are looking forward to a campout with our friends from Clifton and Clyde area..Stephen, Christie, Josh, Shallen, Josh, Jason, Naomi...and all. They will be at this huge music festival through the weekend. Sunday they will be travelling again, headed for their last stop on their journey at Fredricktown, MO.
Keep them lifted in your prayers for safe travels, good health, fun times, good friends....

( 2.8 / 48 )Today, Day number 14 we will reach our final destination of Bryson City, NC!!!! We will drive over the river and through the woods, right through the heart of the smokey mountains to get there. In NC we will be jamming and learning music.
I don't remember when we updated last sooooo....We had a great two days in Nashville. Erin and I really expected to hate the town thinking it would be like Branson on Steroids, but we found the exact opposite. The city had a small town feel, the people were very friendly-even their driving-. Erin and I drove rush hour traffic and it wasn't bad at all. We drove down Music Row and that was fun; it didn't look super special, but it was fun anyhoo. Nashville was a very pretty city, nice and green with lots of flowers. We got to spend time with several of our friends and make new friends too. Erin got a chromatic dulcimer lesson from Steve Seifert, which made her really happy!
Erin and I had a gig in Knoxville, TN last night. We both taught a worshop and then did an hour concert. The people enjoyed us (we think). We made a little more gas money. YEAH! We stayed at a lovely house about 4 miles from Pigeon Forge last night, we're getting ready to go up for breakfast here in a few minutes. I am hopeing to get a few video links from along the way this morning. I"m not for sure of what they are so just enjoy!
Erin and I changed time zones yesterday we are now in Eastern Time wich is an later than at home. We are missing you so don't forget to write to us.....Next time we chat we'll be in North Carolina!!!
