Oncologist Visit
I saw the oncologist this afternoon for a follow-up visit after my PET scan Monday. This is what we learned:

I have Stage 2 Hodgkin's Disease. There are no lymphnodes involoved below my diaphragm and no other organs have been affected. This is very good. There are 2 groups of lymphnodes involved above my diaphragm-- in my neck and my chest.

Treatment plan is 8 chemotherapy treatments. They will be administered once every 2 weeks. My dr. opted for a longer chemo treatment and no radiation because of the long-term risk of breast cancer after radiation to the chest. My dr. has consulted with several other physicians and they all agreed this would be the best plan of action for my situation.

Wednesday, August 22nd I get a porta-cath put in. This will make it easier to get my treatments. It will be done at the Salina Regional Health Center at 7:30am. Then I have a Pulmonary Function Test in the afternoon. One of the possible side-effects of the chemo therapy is decrease in lung function, so they want an initial measurement to compare to later.

Thursday, August 23rd, I get my first chemo treatment. I go to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center at 10:30am and they do an educational meeting with me and then I get the chemo!

That's about all the news for now. Thanks for visiting my new site. Keep checking back for the latest news and rambles from me! :-)
